PRODUCT CONDITION CODES FOR AVIATION

Factory New (FN): obtained from the OEM without passing to many intermediaries until end customer. FN shall be free of any functional and cosmetic defects. Includes Certificate of Conformance from the manufacturer (CofC).

New Material (NE): obtained from the OEM without passing to many intermediaries until end customer. NE shall be free of any functional and cosmetic defects. Often includes Companies’ Certificates of Conformance (Company COC) along with the manufacturers’ names and lot numbers, but rarely have the Manufacturers’ Certifications (MFG CERTS)

New Surplus (NS): are new material purchased as excess inventory. NS shall not show evidence of prior assembly or use but may exhibit signs of handling and storage mishaps, and age deterioration.

Overhauled (OH): this condition has been rebuilt and tested in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications by an approved repair facility.

Serviceable (SV): tested and/or repaired in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications by an approved repair facility. SV shall be of a condition that would allow them to be installed and used. Parts outside of shelf life shall be considered “Unserviceable”.

As Removed (AR): many parts extracted from ship, aircraft, vehicle, or prior assemblies fall in this category. They may function flawlessly, but the supplier cannot guarantee their quality; nor can it claim that another party can repair or test them to approved standards. In short, the supplier sells As Removed parts "as is".
